Moxie alternative: Scopivo with a Free plan and your own Stripe.

Moxie is the best-reviewed tool in this category and it is built for the same solo freelancer Scopivo is. The differences are specific: a Free plan with no clock, 0% on your own Stripe account, and file approval per version on one side; a custom domain, a client login, QuickBooks and an AI assistant on the other. Here is the side-by-side.

Free, with limits. No credit card to start. Pro is $19/mo or $190/yr.

Where Scopivo wins

A Free plan with no clock

Moxie has a 14-day trial and no free plan (as of September 2026). Scopivo's Free plan is $0 for as long as you like: one active client, one active project and three invoices a month, with your own Stripe account connected and your branding on every client page. You can run a real engagement on it before paying anything.

Your own Stripe account, 0% platform fee, in writing

Clients pay your Stripe account directly through Stripe Connect. Scopivo takes 0%, never holds the money, and says so on the pricing page. Moxie does not publish its payment processing terms on its pricing page (as of September 2026), so you have to ask.

File approval per version

Upload a deliverable, send one private link, and your client leaves pinned comments and approves or requests changes on that version. Upload the next version and the review reopens. Moxie's portal lets collaborators view and edit deliverables, but we did not find a per-version sign-off step. If your work ends in a file the client has to approve, this is the difference that matters.

Verified signatures

Before a client signs a contract in Scopivo, they confirm their email address with a one-time code. The signature record keeps the verified address and the time of signing. Moxie includes e-signature; its help pages do not describe an identity check, so we make no claim either way.

Where Moxie wins

Moxie is a strong product with a loyal base. These are the cases where it is the better fit, stated plainly.

Custom domain and a white-labelled client portal

Moxie Pro ($20 to $25/mo, as of September 2026) puts the client portal on your own domain with no Moxie branding. Scopivo's client pages show your logo and color but live on scopivo.com, and there is no portal home or client login.

QuickBooks sync and an AI assistant

Moxie Pro syncs with QuickBooks, and Moxie Assistant drafts emails and proposals, summarises your inbox and can build invoices and projects from a description. Scopivo has a Google Sheets export for your bookkeeper and no AI features.

Team seats and a public track record

Moxie Teams ($32 to $40/mo, as of September 2026) covers up to five team members. Scopivo is one seat. Moxie also has 541 Trustpilot reviews at 4.7 and answers its negative reviews; Scopivo opened sign-up in October 2026 and has no public reviews yet.

Migration playbook (two weeks)

  1. 1

Export what you have from Moxie

From Moxie, export your clients and invoices, and save copies of the proposal and contract templates you actually use. You will rebuild two or three of them, not twenty.

  2. 2

    Set Scopivo up in parallel

Sign up for the Free plan, connect your own Stripe account, add your logo and brand color, and recreate your two or three templates. Scopivo's editor supports rich text and template variables like {{clientName}} and {{totalAmount}}.

  3. 3

Send new work through Scopivo first

New proposals, contracts and invoices go out from Scopivo. Clients in flight stay in Moxie until their last invoice clears, so nobody gets two sets of links for the same project.

  4. 4

Cancel Moxie once the last invoice clears

Moxie bills monthly or annually, so time the cancellation to the end of your period. If you are on an annual plan, run the overlap until it ends; the Free plan costs nothing while you wait.

FAQ

Is Scopivo cheaper than Moxie?
It depends on the plan. As of September 2026, Moxie Starter is $12/mo ($10/mo on annual billing) and Moxie Pro is $25/mo ($20/mo on annual billing). Scopivo Pro is $19/mo or $190/yr, so it sits between Moxie's two solo tiers, and Scopivo's Free plan is $0 with no time limit where Moxie has a 14-day trial. If you only need what Moxie Starter includes, Moxie is cheaper; if you need Moxie Pro, Scopivo is a little cheaper and includes time tracking, recurring invoices and payment plans.
Does Moxie charge a platform fee on client payments?
We could not find Moxie's payment processing terms on its pricing page as of September 2026, so we do not claim a number. Scopivo's terms are published: clients pay your own Stripe account through Stripe Connect, Scopivo takes 0% and never holds the money, and Stripe charges its normal processing fees.
Can I use my own domain for client pages like Moxie offers?
No. Moxie Pro includes a custom domain and a white-labelled client portal; Scopivo does not have either. Scopivo's client pages live on scopivo.com, show your logo and brand color, and carry no Scopivo upsell, but the address bar says scopivo.com. If a branded domain matters to your clients, Moxie is the better fit today.
Does Scopivo have an AI assistant?
No. Moxie ships Moxie Assistant, which writes summaries, drafts emails and proposals, and can set up invoices and projects from a description. Scopivo has no AI features. If drafting help is a reason you would pick a tool, Moxie has it and Scopivo does not.
How does file approval compare?
Scopivo's deliverables are versioned: your client opens a private link, leaves pinned comments on the file, and approves or requests changes per version, and the next version reopens the review. Moxie lets collaborators view and edit deliverables inside its portal, but we did not find a per-version approve or request-changes step. If your work is files your client has to sign off on, this is Scopivo's strongest difference.
Is Moxie ever the better choice?
Yes, often. If you need a custom domain, a client portal with a login, QuickBooks sync, an AI assistant, or seats for a team, Moxie has all of those and Scopivo has none of them. Moxie also has a public track record (4.7 on Trustpilot across 541 reviews, as of September 2026) that Scopivo, which opened sign-up in October 2026, does not. We would rather say that plainly than have you find out after you sign up.
